ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Labor Day morning is starting with rainy and cool conditions.

The rain will likely continue through a good chunk of Monday before we transition over to scattered and isolated showers in the afternoon. Rain in the morning could be heavy at times so make sure you take it easy on the roadways and grab the rain gear out the door.

Things will try to dry late in the afternoon as we transition over to isolated showers, but we will remain damp. Also with the stubborn cloud cover in place on Monday, we will be stuck in the 60s for the afternoon highs as we struggle to warm up.

Even though this holiday will be unsettled, we will begin to dry out this week with pleasant weather expected as the kids head back to school this week.

An isolated rain shower is possible on Tuesday afternoon, but the sun returns under partly cloudy skies. The sun will continue to shine for the remainder of the work week as mostly sunny skies are expected by Friday afternoon.

With the sunshine, we will also warm up. After highs in the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday, we return to the 80s Thursday and Friday. Our next chance for widespread unsettled weather will come this weekend.

Most of Saturday is expected to be dry, but a thunderstorm will be possible late as a cold front begin to approach from the west. A better chance for rain will move in for Sunday as the cold front swings by with scattered showers and storms.
