Tonight, it’s the opening night of the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway after last night’s rain shower. The half-mile dirt track is set to host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

North South 100 Menu Aug 12 | Aug 13

Results from tonight will be used to set the lineups for Saturday’s North/South 100 finale. They’ll battle for $5,000 to win tonight but tomorrow they’ll race for $75,000 to win.

Tonight the field is divided into two groups. Each group will have their own feature.

Bobby Pierce and Hudson O’Neal set the front for for the first of two features. 25 laps of dirt late model racing are up next…

Green flag, Pierce and O’Neal run side by side into turn one. O’Neal powers to the lead via the outside off turn two.

Lap 2, slow car in turn four, caution.

Green, O’Neal is clear by three car lengths into turn one. Mike Marlar works to the outside of Pierce to take 2nd away off turn two.

Lap 5, Earl Pearson Jr works inside of Marlar to take 2nd away. Pierce rolls the cushion and sparks the wall behind them.

Green, O;Neal leads into turn one as Zack Dohm works outside of Pearson Jr to take 2nd.

O’Neal rolls the bottom and opens the gap.

Lap 20, caution as Marlar has a flat left rear.

Green, O’Neal leads as Pearson Jr and Dohm run side by side for 2nd. Pearson takes 2nd away.

4 to go, Pearson Jr moves to the middle and he’s all over the bumper of O’Neal. Pierce sparks the wall behind them.

2 to go, O’Neal leads Pearson Jr by a car length as Pierce moves to 3rd.

1 to go, Pearson Jr has a run into turn three and e drives it deep on the outside. O’Neal gases it up and shuts the door off turn four. Pearson Jr crosses under O’Neal off turn four! Side by side to the line…

Hudson O’Neal holds him off to win the first of two features at Florence Speedway!

Jonathan Davenport and Brandon Overton set the front row. 25 more laps of dirt track racing are up next…

Green flag, Davenport is clear into turn one. Overton and Tyler Erbn run side by side for 2nd off turn two. Erb gets sideways and Ricky Thornton Jr gets into the back of him, they both keep it rolling, no caution.

Lap 5, Josh Rice runs 7th and he’s sparking the outside wall as most of the field is glued to the bottom.

Lap 10, Davenport opens the gap. He leads Overton by 2 seconds.

Lap 16, McDowell works inside of Overton. McDowell to 2nd.

7 to go, Davenport works heavy lap traffic. He makes light contact as he slices through them.

5 to go, Carson Ferguson slows, caution.

Green, Dalton Wilson slows and the caution is out once more.

Green, Davenport is clear into turn one as Overton retakes 2nd.

2 to go, Davenport leads Overton by 1 second. McDowell pressures him for 2nd.
