Cherokee, IA (KICD)– One of the best meteor showers is set to peak later this week giving space lovers ample opportunities to see some “falling stars”

Linda Burkhart is the Director of the Sanford Museum and Planetarium in Cherokee. She says this particular shower, named for where it appears to originate from, is special because it tends to produce the most visible meteors.

Burkhart says there may some issues seeing all of the meteors this year because of some extra light in sky on Friday night.

Sanford Museum and Planetarium will be hosting a “Meteors and Movie” party Friday evening starting at 9:30 on the south end of the Cherokee County Fairgrounds for anyone that wants to come out and look at the night sky while also enjoying a family movie.
