BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — Goalie Violet Tuckerman had six stops, including a game-saver with less than two minutes to go, backing up goals from Izzy Konijnenberg and Chloe Masillo to give the Woodstock High girls soccer team a 2-1 win over Brattleboro on Thursday afternoon.

“That final save on a rainy evening made the difference,” said Woodstock coach Greg LaBella.

The Colonels got on the board first, and while Woodstock had more shots, it could not put one by the Brattleboro goalie until 10 minutes into the second half, when senior Konijnenberg’s shot skidded into the goal.

Brattleboro at times applied pressure, but Woodstock moved the ball well and got the game-winner on a goal by junior Masillo with 15 minutes remaining.

Sophomome Jane Stout and senior Dillon Moss anchored a strong defensive effort by Woodstock, LaBella said.

Woodstock (4-1) travels to Springfield on Tuesday.

WEST CANAAN — Senior midfielder Zach Thompson scored all three goals to lead the Royals past the Wildcats in a game that saw a flash downpour and then a sun shower give way to clear skies.

Thompson’s final goal broke a 2-2 tie in the 58th minute. Sophomore midfielder Tanner Moulton had two assists, and Mason Ballard had one. Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Favreau made nine saves.

“Zach has that tendency to take over the game in the midfield,” Mascoma coach Ryan Limero said. “We feed off of him. We’re dangerous on set pieces because he’s so good in the air. I’m happy with how resilient we are.”

The Royals (6-1-0) are at Bishop Brady on Friday.

CONCORD — Led by senior Roy Shapard and sophomore Ben Britton, the Raiders won a three-team match against Coe-Brown and Bishop Brady at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

Shapard shot a 39 on the par-36 Beaver Meadow front nine, with Britton finishing the nine holes at 41. Lebanon seniors Sam Bates, Dawson Bates and Alex Blish all shot 44s. Shapard was the match’s second medalist, and Britton tied for third. Jack Smith of Coe-Brown had the best score of the day, a 38.

Lebanon is at Eastman for a home match with Pelham, Plymouth and Sanborn on Monday.

Team scores: Lebanon 84, Coe-Brown 78, Bishop Brady 63.

MANCHESTER, Vt. — In match play at Burr & Burton’s Battenkill Cup, Hartford’s Matt Tsouknakis led the Hurricanes with four out of a possible six points.

Hartford finished third behind Rutland and the host Bulldogs. The Hurricanes play at Woodstock on Wednesday.

Team scores: Burr and Burton 20.5 points, Rutland 13.5, Hartford 11.

SALEM, N.H. — The rain let up enough for a four-team match at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands, but Stevens coach Ryan Seaver said a “soaked” course made for tough golfing.

“None of them had seen the course before, but the kids battled through it,” Seaver said of his team.

Senior Cedric Allen and sophomore Aubree Herzog registered 14 points (49) each for the Cardinals on the par-36 front nine, followed by sophomore Josh Petrin and freshman Oliver Beeman, each with seven points (56). Freshman Elli Girard had five points (58), and sophomores Zach Perkins and Justin Demars netted three each (60). The top round of the afternoon was a 39 by Calvin Reilly of Derryfield.

Stevens plays Kearsarge at Lake Sunapee Country Club on Monday.

Team scores: Derryfield, 83, Pelham 82, Kearsarge 68, Stevens 42.

The Mascoma team of sophomores Tanner Moulton and Peyton Sargent finished fourth at the state qualifier and earned a spot in the finals, which will take place Oct. 1 on Mascoma Lake. The pair caught eight fish weighing a total of 18.29 pounds.

Lebanon’s team finished 21st and failed to qualify. The Raiders only brought in three fish for a total weight of 7.06 pounds.
