Sol de Janeiro Milky Leave-In Conditioner Is Great for Fine Hair | Well+Good

Ever since receiving a sneak-peek Sol de Janeiro mailer in 2016, prior to the brand’s official release of their now fan-favorite Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, I’ve been head over heels for the brightly-packaged brand. My love affair with SDJ started as soon as I got a whiff of their signature Cherirosa 62 scent—a warm, intoxicating blend of vanilla, salted caramel, and pistachio. Where that scent used to be exclusive to the skin-firming, guaraná-infused cupuaçu butter body cream, it now comes in the form of a Lip Butter, Hair & Body Fragrance Mist, Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel, Hand Cream, Body Scrub, and Hair Treatment.

And now (well, since its launch earlier this month), the tantalizing scent is sold in a totally transformative leave-in conditioner form—something my fine strands simply can’t get enough of.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia ™ Milky Leave-In Conditioner — $28.00 Shop Now

The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Joia ™ Milky Leave-In Conditioner ($28) is still relatively fresh to market, and it's already earned over 11,000 heart-shaped seals of approval on Sephora—not to mention a resounding 5-star review. Designed to detangle, hydrate, and protect (up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit) hair, this leave-in might seem like any other on the market, but that’s not the case.

What makes this stuff stand out from the rest is its ability to intensely moisturize strands without making it feel heavy or oily. It's truly the perfect hairstyling sidekick. Despite being formulated with deeply hydrating babaçu oil and upuaçu butter, as well as strengthening Brazil nut oil, this spray never weighs my hair down—and I have incredibly fine strands, so that’s saying something. Instead, when I spritz my damp hair with spray—whether I then let it air dry or speed up the process with my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer—I find that it leaves it feeling light and fluffy, but never frizzy. I wouldn’t say that it enhances the volume, but it definitely perks strands up and makes my hair look healthier, overall.

Before even leading to those end results, though, this spray works like a charm to unfurl stubborn tangles. It gives my strands just enough glide to easily work my Wet Brush through. No hair-ripping or tugging, which is a major plus in my book, considering my fine hair rips and tugs too easily if I'm not careful.

Beyond the hair benefits this spray has, I love the design of the canister. The spritzer nozzle looks more like something you’d find in a high-end salon. What’s more, it’s designed with a locking switch that helps prevent spills and waste, so you can toss it in your overnight bag without a second thought.

Truly, when it comes to this leave-in conditioner, the brand didn’t leave anything out–Sol de Janeiro thought of it all—and my hair (and weekend bag) is grateful.
